FAQ

You should start discussing your Medicare options 4-5 months before you want your coverage to begin.

For most people, the best time to enroll is during their Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), which is a 7-month window that starts three months before the month you turn 65 and ends three months after. You can only delay enrolling in Medicare without penalties if you’re covered by group insurance through active employment, and you may have up to 8 months after that coverage ends to enroll.

There is no cost to work with me! You get access to the same Medicare plans as you would on your own, but with the added benefit of personalized support and an ongoing relationship with an independent broker. I’m here to help you navigate your options, ensure you’re getting the best coverage for your needs, and potentially save you money. My goal is to be your trusted resource throughout your Medicare journey, at no extra cost to you.

I’m compensated by the insurance company through a small administrative fee when I help you enroll in a plan. This fee is paid by the insurance company, not by you, and it allows me to continue providing ongoing support and service for your plan. By working with me to enroll in your Medicare plan, you ensure that I can be there to assist you with any questions, changes, or issues that arise throughout your coverage. It’s a win-win—you get expert guidance at no additional cost, and I’m able to continue serving you as your trusted Medicare advisor.

Both Medicare Supplement and Advantage plans have their place, and the right choice depends on your individual needs and circumstances. It’s a personal decision that should be based on factors like your health, budget, and preferences for flexibility in coverage. We’d love to help you figure out what’s best for you by discussing your specific situation and guiding you through the options.

To avoid late enrollment penalties, it’s important to sign up for Medicare during your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), which starts three months before you turn 65 and ends three months after. If you’re covered by group insurance through active employment, you may be able to delay enrolling in Medicare without penalties, but you’ll need to sign up within 8 months after your employment or coverage ends. Staying on top of these timelines is crucial, and I’m here to help ensure you enroll at the right time to avoid any unnecessary penalties.

When it comes to Medicare, there are two main types of costs: the cost of coverage and the cost of care. The cost of coverage includes premiums you pay to have Medicare, such as the Part B premium, which most people will pay at least $174.70 per month. The cost of care refers to out-of-pocket expenses like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles when you use healthcare services.

Depending on how you structure your Medicare coverage—whether through Original Medicare with a Supplement plan or a Medicare Advantage plan—you could pay more or less for both coverage and care. It’s important to consider both types of costs when choosing a plan, and I’m here to help you find the best balance to fit your budget and healthcare needs.
